Myers Named PWSA Female University Student/Athlete of the Year

TUCSON – Senior swimmer Whitney Myers was named the Phoenix Women’s Sports Association 2006-2007 Female University Student/Athlete of the Year, Friday, April 20, recognizing her achievements as an elite swimmer and student.

 

Myers, an Oxford, Ohio native, received first team All-Academic All Pac-10 honors for the third straight year earilier this month with a 3.79 grade point average in science education. Myers was the 2007 NCAA Champion in the 200 IM (1:54.89), and tallied a total of six first team All-American honors at the championships.

 

Among her many career achievements, Myers holds four of the top spots on Arizona’s all-time top performances list. She also represented team U.S.A at this year’s World Championships in Melbourne, Australia where she finished fourth in the 200-meter IM (2:13.7).

 

Presentation of the 2006-2007 Female University Student/Athlete of the Year Award will take place during the PWSA’s Fourth Annual Celebration of Girls’ and Women’s Sports Awards Dinner, which begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix, Ariz.
